The Executive Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme is tailored to individuals who are not only seeking advanced academic knowledge but also have a strong desire to conduct original research and contribute to the body of knowledge in the field of business administration, and is designed to empower students with advanced research skills, critical thinking capabilities, and the ability to apply their knowledge to real-world business challenges.

The Executive Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. MFHEA deems this DBA to be at Level 8 in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.
Entry Requirements
The entry criteria for the CMBS DBA programme require students to hold a Level 7 Master’s Qualification, and/or 10 years of industry experience in a leadership/managerial role. Candidates must also have an academic or professional knowledge of key financial and marketing business practices and processes and if not – they will need to successfully complete two modules at MQF 7 focusing on strategic marketing and strategic financial planning that may be followed at CMBS or any other comparable organisation.
Students who do not possess one or the other of the above entry requirements may still apply by submitting a 1000-word motivation letter highlighting their academic or professional achievements and giving reasons why they feel they are eligible to enrol on the said programme.
Mode of Assessment
A mixed-method assessment approach will be utilised for this programme. This will include coursework assignments, case studies, reflective pieces, projects and a research proposal.

This module provides students with a solid understanding of both quantitative and qualitative research philosophy and methodology. Students will explore statistical techniques, modeling, and their practical application in business and academic research, gaining hands-on experience with statistical software tools. The module also covers qualitative research methods for investigating complex business issues and addresses ethical considerations to ensure research integrity. Emphasis is placed on the role of theory and the importance of a strong theoretical framework. This mandatory module equips students with the essential skills and tools for conducting rigorous research in industry and academia.
This module aims to equip DBA students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competences to excel in managerial roles within various industries, including financaial services, gaming, and manufacturing, amongst others.
The module offers a foundation of comprhensive concepts, strategies, and skills essential for effective business management in today’s complex and volotile business landscape. Emphasis is placed on digital business, emerging technologies, and future trends to prepare students in managerial roles for the evolving digital business.
This module explores the concepts and practices of transformational change and organisational adaptation in the context of modern business and society. Students will examine the theoretical frameworks application of these frameworks when managing change, as well as the role of organisational culture, leadership, and communication in facilitating successful adaptation.
The module will also focus on the challenges and risks associated with transformational change and the importance of stakeholder engagement and collaboration in ensuring successful outcomes.
This module will equip learners to critically analyse and present complex ideas, theories, and arguments with well-supported insights. Learners will engage in reflective thinking to enhance decision-making by considering diverse perspectives, risks, and ethical factors, while identifying assumptions, biases, and logical fallacies to improve the quality of their analyses. They will explore philosophical approaches such as positivism, post-positivism, and pragmatism to construct compelling arguments, applying critical thinking skills to improve decision-making in organisational contexts. Furthermore, learners will foster a culture of critical inquiry that promotes intellectual engagement and continuous improvement within organisations.
