Award in Auditing and Assurance

The Award in Auditing and Assurance equip students with the knowledge and skills to navigate the world of financial accountability. By delving into the fundamentals of auditing, students will gain a clear understanding of its critical role in ensuring the accuracy and transparency of financial reporting. Through this award, learners will explore various aspects of auditing financial statements, including the necessity of both internal and external audits for businesses.

Learners will learn how to:

  • Critique auditing and assurance concepts, including professional conduct like independence and ethical obligations
  • Identify and assess governing laws for external audits
  • Recognise and evaluate limitations inherent to external audits
  • Gain a grasp understanding of the audit plan
  • Identify and critically reflect on procedures used to achieve audit objectives
  • Draw conclusions based on the audit procedures performed
  • Identify different types of audit reports and the audit opinions expressed

Awarding Body

This qualification is awarded by Central Mediterranean Business School (CMBS).

Accrediting Body

This qualification is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. MFHEA deems the Award in Auditing and Assuranceto be at Level 5 in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the programme, candidates must hold any one of the following requirements:

  • MQF Level 4 qualification in accountancy, finance or a relevant field
  • Matriculation certificate with passes in at least 2 A-levels and 3 Intermediates
  • Matsec certificate with 4 passes at Grade 5 or better in accounts, english, mathematics and any other subject
  • Relevant work experience in a relevant field

Non-native English speakers must also have an English qualification such as CEFR or IELTS 5.5.

Mode of Assessment

The Award in Auditing and Assurance will be assessed through an exam, an individual project and a reflective journal.

This programme is intended for those who are aged 18+ and aspire to work or are already working in the finance field.
