The Award in Economics and Financial Markets provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental concepts of economics and finance. The main objective of this programme is to equip learners with the essential knowledge and skills to understand how economic conditions affect important financial decisions. Learners will also learn how to apply macroeconomic principles to practical policy issues and navigate the world of financial markets using various trading instruments.
Learners will learn how to:
- Navigate major macroeconomic trends and how they influence business decisions
- Monitor developments and common practices within financial markets
- Critically evaluate how Fintech is revolutionising the nature and function of financial markets
- Identify and discuss the various avenues businesses utilise to secure funding
- Continuously track the changing nature and role of financial markets

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the programme, candidates must hold any one of the following requirements:
- Diploma pegged at MQF Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant field
- Matsec certificate with 4 passes at Grade 5 or better or equivalent
- Matriculation certificate with at least 2 A-levels and 3 Intermediates
- Relevant work experience
Non-native English speakers must also have an English qualification such as CEFR or IELTS 5.5.

Mode of Assessment
The Award in Economics and Financial Markets will be assessed through the use of an exam, an individual project and a reflective journal.Â
