The Award in Finance for HR Professionals offers learners the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of the fundamental principles that underpin accounting and finance and their significance in a business environment. Learners will develop a comprehensive understanding of how proficient financial management, accounting practices and strategic financial decision-making can significantly enhance an organisation’s overall performance and contribute to its long-term success.
Ideal for HR professionals who are starting out or already working in the field, the Award in Finance for HR Professionals will equip learners with the ability to translate financial concepts into actionable strategies for their departments. By understanding financial metrics and how they impact the organisation’s health, learners will be able to make data-driven decisions about recruitment, compensation packages and talent development initiatives, ultimately contributing to a more strategic and successful HR department.
Learners will learn how to:
- Collaborate with the finance department to align financial plans with HR goals.
- Monitor changes in the budgeting or financial plans that impact HR operations, and revise hr documentation and procedures.
- Deal with the formulation of simple profit and loss sheets and other financial statements.
- Evaluate and analyse financial budgets for HR operations, and provide recommendations for improving financial planning.
- Forecasting processes to ensure they are reliable, realistic and aligned with HR goals.

The Award in Finance for HR Professionals is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. MFHEA deems this award to be at Level 5 in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the programme, candidates must hold any one of the following requirements:
- Diploma pegged at MQF Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant field
- Matriculation certificate with at least 2 A-levels and 3 Intermediates
- Matsec certificates with 4 passes at Grade 5 or better
- Relevant work experience
Non-native English speakers must also have an English qualification such as CEFR or IELTS 5.5.

Mode of Assessment
The Award in Finance for HR Professionals shall be assessed through a case study.
