Unit 1

Introducing Sports Management

This module introduces learners to the history of sports and sports management and delves into the topic of the relationship between sports and the community.

Unit 2

Strategic Planning and Management in Sports Organisations

This module dives into the topic of sports management and the various topics related to sports management, such as the relationship between the sports industry and the government, the difference between profit, non-profit and professional sport, the influences of sports organisational structures, sport organisational structure and models and strategic sports management.

Unit 3

Leadership and Management in Sports

This module focuses on different leadership and management theories in sports and highlights the main challenges one can face whilst managing a sports organisation.

Unit 4

Human Resource Management in Sports

This module introduces human resource management in relation to sports to the learner. This topic discusses the difference between HR management in sports and traditional HR, talent acquisition and retention and the different methods possible to measure and manage performance.

Unit 5

Government in Sports Management

This module allows learners to understand the relationship between government entities and sports management. This topic delves into the amount of control and regulation the government has over organisations. This topic also discusses how an organisation can go about sourcing funding from a government entity.

Unit 6

Marketing in Sports

This module introduces the topic of marketing for sports management. Marketing is integral to any organisation and the sports industry is no different. This topic dives into the sports marketing framework and how to implement different marketing strategic plans to achieve your goal.

Unit 7

Current Issues and Trends in Sports Management

This module discusses the current issues and trends in the sports industry on a global scale, how these issues affect sports managers and how to overcome these issues.

About this course

 

Our Award in Principles of Sports Management will equip practising and aspiring managers with the knowledge, skills and competencies required to hold a position within management in the sports industry and give the organisation a competitive advantage. The course will provide a strong foundation in sports management, exploring key theories and practices that are central to managing sports organisations.

 

By the end of this course, learners will have gained the theoretical knowledge and practical expertise needed to assess current industry trends and issues, exhibit outstanding leadership and management skills, and ensure organisational success.

Flexible entry requirements. Applicants should normally hold a Bachelor’s Degree, however, we also assess other factors including your career progression, and leadership and entrepreneurship qualities. If you do not meet the standard entry requirements and are adequately prepared to succeed in this programme, we welcome and encourage you to contact us.

 

Assessment Mode

This course shall be assessed through the use of a case study and a presentation.

 

Delivery Mode

The MQF 7 Award in Principles of Sports Management is delivered through face-to-face lectures at our premises in Haz-Zebbug.

This course is intended for those who are aged 21+ and aspire to gain a competitive advantage in the sports industry.

 

Language of Instruction

This programme will be delivered in English.
