Award in Research Methods

The Award in Research Methods focuses on equipping learners with the skills and knowledge to conduct effective research and develop research proposals. Learners will get a better understanding of the most effective approaches for transforming collected data into usable information, ready to be incorporated and presented in their individual projects.

Learners will learn how to:

  • Describe the role of research in business and management.
  • Define ways of identifying interested research topics.
  • List steps that need to be undertaken when reviewing literature and how such literature is to be presented.
  • List and differentiate between different research philosophies and approaches.
  • Define the importance of ethics and ethical considerations when conducting research.
  • List different sampling methods and differentiate between them.

Awarding Body

This qualification is awarded by Central Mediterranean Business School (CMBS).

Accrediting Body

This qualification is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. MFHEA deems this award to be at Level 5 in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the programme, candidates must hold any one of the following requirements:

  • Diploma pegged at MQF Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant field
  • Matriculation certificate with at least 2 A-levels and 3 Intermediates
  • Matsec certificates with 4 passes at Grade 5 or better
  • Relevant work experience

Non-native English speakers must also have an English qualification such as CEFR or IELTS 5.5.

Mode of Assessment

This award shall be assessed through the use of a research proposal.

Who is this course for?

The Award in Research Methods is intended for those who are aged 21+ and aspire to work or are already working in the HR field.
