Table of Contents
The Award in Employment Law enables learners to gain knowledge and awareness of various laws, regulations, ethical standardsand legal principles that govern employment, including the dynamics between employers and employees. It covers topics such as human rights, employer rights, employee rights, employment contracts, legal obligations during employment and termination procedures.
Learners will learn how to:
- Critically identify, evaluate, and examine various local, European and international legislations governing employment.
- Reflect on the ethical and legal considerations required when designing a job, including selection criteria and additional organisational requirements such as drug tests and interview questions.
- Examine and evaluate various types of employment contracts, including full-time, part-time, and others.
- Critically assess and analyse the repercussions of failing to comply with employment laws and regulations in human resources.
- Understand terms of employment contracts and worker repercussions for contract violations.
- Reflect on workplace equal opportunity importance and relevant laws.

This qualification is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. MFHEA deems this award to be at Level 5 in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the programme, candidates must hold any one of the following requirements:
- Diploma pegged at MQF Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant field
- Matriculation certificate with at least 2 A-levels and 3 Intermediates
- Matsec certificates with 4 passes at Grade 5 or better
- Relevant work experience
Non-native English speakers must also have an English qualification such as CEFR or IELTS 5.5.

Mode of Assessment
The Award in Employment Law shall be assessed through the use of an assignment.
