Award in English Language Proficiency for ECEC Childcare Educators

This award equips ECEC practitioners with essential English skills for effective communication in childcare settings. It covers practical vocabulary, conversational skills, age-appropriate language, and professional interactions with parents, colleagues, and regulatory bodies, fostering confidence in their roles.
Learners will learn how to:
- Collaborate with parents to ensure effective communication about their child’s needs, preferences, and well-being in childcare.Â
- Comply with formal greetings when interacting with management and regulatory bodies.Â
- Guide children using basic English phrases to support their understanding of daily routines and safety.Â
- Carry out tasks involving age-appropriate interactions with children using simple Maltese songs, greetings, and vocabulary.Â
- Be responsible for using culturally and linguistically appropriate language in professional and caregiving contexts.Â
- Represent the childcare centre professionally when addressing management or regulatory authorities in English.Â
- Ensure clarity and respect in all forms of communication, adapting language to suit the audience.

Mode of Assessment
This award will be assessed through oral examinations and delivered through a combination of in-class lectures and online sessions.
