Our MQF Level 5 Award in Fundamentals of Accounting and Finance enable learners to explore the fundamental principles that underpin accounting and finance, and their significance in a business setting. Through this module, learners can comprehend how accounting and finance, along with effective financial management, can contribute to the overall improvement of organisational performance.
Learners will learn how to:
- Draw up simple general ledger accounts and simple journal entries.
- Communicate with various users of financial information, both internally and external.
- Monitor changes that need to be reflected in various financial statements.
- Define in detail and exemplify financial accounting and the techniques which govern the accounting world.
- Identify the use of simple journal entries and general ledger accounts.
- Prepare basic profit and loss sheets.
- Use methods of recording financial transactions and events information at the place of work effectively.

This qualification is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. MFHEA deems this Award in Fundamentals of Accounting and Finance to be at Level 5 in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the programme, candidates must hold any one of the following requirements:
- Diploma pegged at MQF Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant field
- Matriculation certificate with at least 2 A-levels and 3 Intermediates
- Matsec certificates with 4 passes at Grade 5 or better
- Relevant work experience
Non-native English speakers must also have an English qualification such as CEFR or IELTS 5.5.
