The Award in Performance Management provides learners with advanced insights into performance measurement and management in organisations.
This certification is designed to help learners acquire the essential skills and competencies needed to perform various cost and management accounting techniques that are crucial for making informed business decisions.. It will cover how to manage financial and non-financial performance of various types of organisations, including private, public and non-profit organisations. The programme will also demonstrate to students how to monitor the impact of external stakeholders and technology on organisational performance. Learners will learn how to:
- Identify and critically reflect on various systems, information and technological tools required for organisations to be able to effectively monitor, measure and manage performance in an increasingly digitalised world
- Gain an in-depth understanding of specialist cost and management accounting techniques, namely activity-based costing, life-cycle costing, throughput accounting and target costing, and recognise the increasing relevance of environmental accounting
- Comprehend and reflect on the fundamentals of various decision-making techniques such as relevant cost analysis, cost-volume-profit analysis, limiting factors, dealing with risk and uncertainty, pricing decisions and make or buy decisions
- Understand and critically analyse the key budgeting, planning and control concepts from a standard costing perspective, including quantitative techniques
- Describe the required employability and technology skills necessary in the fields of accounting and finance
- Demonstrate the ability to manage information, source information and apply information systems and data analytics in an effective manner
- Apply the specialist cost and management accounting techniques to organisational planning and control
- Show how decision-making techniques can be used to make the best short-term and long-term financial decisions in organisations, including when facing limiting factors
- Differentiate between and prepare traditional, flexible, rolling and activity-based budgets, and show how budgets can cater for uncertainty in the environment
- Calculate variances using standard costing and use variance analysis to evaluate past performance and to assess how future organisational performance could be improved
- Examine the performance of an organisation from a financial and non-financial standpoint, including recognising external forces impacting the organisation and the challenges of controlling divisionalised businesses
- Use technology to manipulate and present data and information effectively, using the appropriate tools

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the programme, candidates must hold any one of the following requirements:
- MQF Level 4 qualification in accountancy, finance or a relevant field
- Matriculation certificate with passes in at least 2 A-levels and 3 Intermediates
- Matsec certificate with 4 passes at Grade 5 or better in accounts, english, mathematics and any other subject
- Relevant work experience in a relevant field
Non-native English speakers must also have an English qualification such as CEFR or IELTS 5.5.
Mode of Assessment
The Award in Performance Management will be assessed through an exam, an individual project and a reflective journal.Â
