The Award in Research Methods focuses on equipping learners with the skills and knowledge to conduct effective research and develop research proposals. Learners will get a better understanding of the most effective approaches for transforming collected data into usable information, ready to be incorporated and presented in their individual projects.
Learners will learn how to:
- Describe the role of research in business and management.
- Define ways of identifying interested research topics.
- List steps that need to be undertaken when reviewing literature and how such literature is to be presented.
- List and differentiate between different research philosophies and approaches.
- Define the importance of ethics and ethical considerations when conducting research.
- List different sampling methods and differentiate between them.

This qualification is accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority. MFHEA deems this award to be at Level 5 in the Malta Qualifications Framework and the European Qualifications Framework for lifelong learning.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the programme, candidates must hold any one of the following requirements:
- Diploma pegged at MQF Level 4 or equivalent in a relevant field
- Matriculation certificate with at least 2 A-levels and 3 Intermediates
- Matsec certificates with 4 passes at Grade 5 or better
- Relevant work experience
Non-native English speakers must also have an English qualification such as CEFR or IELTS 5.5.

Mode of Assessment
This award shall be assessed through the use of a research proposal.

The Award in Research Methods is intended for those who are aged 21+ and aspire to work or are already working in the HR field.
