This unit aims at providing general knowledge and the skills needed for a researcher to perform statistical analysis on a dataset in order to prepare a number of hypothesis and perform due research. By using a number of editing and visualisation tools, this unit allows researchers to interface with a number of data storage applications, create data models, and perform the necessary data transformations and analysis. Finally, this unit covers various techniques for how data can be visualised and prepared in dynamic reports.           Â
30 hours
The unit starts off with an overview of the basic database principles and the setting up of a simple database environment. Database design practices are introduced using Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD) which follow commonly used normalisation rules. Attention is later directed towards the actual implementation of designed databases through SQL.
30 hours
In this module Python is used to introduce scripting as a tool to gather, clean, analyse and visualise data. The module does not assume any prior knowledge of Python or any other scripting/programming language.

Power BI
In this module Power BI is used to facilitate the transformation of disparate data into an easier consumable format.Â
