Job summary
The role of the Academic Coordinator is to provide academic support to all faculty members and students of CMBS, ensuring that high standards of quality and service are maintained across the academic offering. The Academic Coordinator will report to the Academic Manager or School Principal and will work closely with all faculty members, especially the Academic Administrator to provide support to faculty and students.
Role responsibilities (will include but are not limited to)
- To assist in the recruitment of new tutors and ensure they are familiar with the CMBS policies;
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in instructional design, instructional technology, education, technology or a related field, or an appropriate combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of Learning Management System(s) (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)
- Two or more years of instructional design and/or LMS experience preferred
- Basic understanding of academic and computer technology
- Experience designing, developing and implementing programs of instruction, including web- and/or computer-based training
- Experience designing courses for an educational environment
- Experience teaching/taking courses in an online environment
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with both customers and vendors in support of resolving issues
- Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms
- Customer service and solutions-oriented attitude
Skills and Abilities
- Critical thinker able to analyse and take decisions based on facts;
- Confident public speaker;
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal);
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Work well under pressure demonstrating good time management;
- Open to further qualifications in education management;
- Team player.
Education and Experience
- MQF Level 6 Degree ideally in education management, educational administration or related field;
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in an education institution performing administrative tasks;
- Experience liaising with faculty and students is highly desirable;
- Some experience in the classroom though not essential would be considered an asset;
- Working knowledge of Moodle or similar system is ideal.
Performance Metrics
The Academic Coordinator’s performance will be evaluated based on the following metrics, which will be specified in more detail in a separate document and updated on an annual basis following performance reviews held with the Academic Manager or School Principal:
- Adherence to quality standards for the academic department;
- Disciplinary referrals;
- Student achievement;
- Student satisfaction;
- Tutor satisfaction and tutor retention;
- Attendance and Graduation rate.
Professional Development
The Academic Coordinator must be open to pursue further professional development to advance within the role and be able to support the team as it grows and develops. For this role the person joining the team must be open to follow CPD courses as set by the CMBS Senior Management team. Any programmes offered by CMBS that will benefit the academic coordinator to develop professionally will be fully sponsored by CMBS*.

Position type
The successful candidate will work 40 hours per week on a full-time basis.
