Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for passionate tutors to engage, motivate and provide an enriching learning journey for our students. The role of a tutor is to ensure that the programme design is fit-for-purpose and that the indicative content of a unit is delivered, ensuring the learner can meet all unit learning outcomes and assessment criteria.
What You’ll Do
As a tutor/assessor you will report directly to the Director of Operations/CEO and be responsible for:
- Preparation of course materials
- Instructing students individually and in groups by using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations
- Establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects, and communicate those objectives to students
- Adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs, abilities and interests
- Observing students to determine qualifications, limitations, abilities, interests and other individual characteristics
- Identifying gaps in achievement
- Judging candidates’ submissions against assessment criteria to identify candidates’ learning success, and providing constructive feedback to the student
- Liaising with the Director for Work-Based Learning and Curriculum Development and with the Internal Verifier to assure consistency of approach
As a tutor, you will also be responsible for student assessments and be accountable to manage the assessment process by:
- Planning the assessment approach whilst ensuring alignment to the module assessment criteria indicated by the respective awarding body
- Ensuring accuracy and consistency in their assessment decisions for all students and between other assessors
- Ensuring that students’ evidence is valid, authentic, and without plagiarism, collusion, or cheating
- Determining whether the student meets all the criteria or needs to submit another attempt
- Using a suitable pedagogical writing style to inform the student of the outcome of the assessment
What You’ll Bring With You
Teaching staff will need to satisfy the following minimum eligibility criteria:
- MQF Level 6 (180 ECTS) for teaching staff delivering MQF Level 5 courses
- MQF Level 7 (90 ECTS) for teaching staff delivering MQF Level 6 courses
- 5 years of work experience
- Preferably 2 years of work experience related to education and training*
*In the absence of this experience, acceptance to the Academic Team is subject to the successful completion of our Train the Trainer Programme.
